Music Lessons - Our Teachers

Learn how to play guitar, drums, bass, piano and how to sing. All styles and genres - from Rock to Pop, Blues to Classical. Beginner to Intermediate.

Here are our teachers:

Sam is one of our Guitar teachers, Co-owner, Innovator, and Engineer of Archer K Music. He has been playing Guitar since the age of 12. He has learnt all styles of guitar from Rock to Blues and Jazz to Classical. Sam has worked as a musician playing in cover bands around Victoria and has experience in writing and recording music. He first started teaching Guitar in his twenties, and tutored many students who wanted to learn how to play guitar. His teaching approach is student-centered, pactrical, and fun. Sam can teach beginners to intermediate, and his teaching days are Tuesday, Friday and Saturday at AKM.

Ashleigh is one of our Guitar teachers. She is a Guitarist, Bassist, and music educator who holds a Bachelor of Music Performance (specialising in Guitar) from the Australian College of The Arts. She works as a session guitarist for a range of artists and performs as a bassist in an active Melbourne-based band, bringing real-world industry experience into every lesson. With a musical background spanning Funk, Rock, Indie, Jazz, Blues, Pop, and many other contemporary styles, Ashleigh enjoys helping students explore the music they love while building strong foundations in technique, musicianship, creativity, and confidence. Known for her friendly and student-centred teaching approach, Ashleigh tailors every lesson to the individual. Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time, learning your favourite songs, preparing for performances, or looking to take your playing to the next level, she is passionate about creating an enjoyable and supportive learning environment. Ashleigh teaches on Mondays, and is accepting new students for Guitar lessons at AKM.

Ben is one of our Guitar and Bass teachers. He teaches beginner, intermediate, advanced guitar, and beginer-intermtate bass. He plays lead guitar in a metal band, and bass in a pop-punk band. Ben is an experienced teacher and teaches guitar throughout the week, at various primary schools. He works with all students, and tailors his lessons to suit each student’s goals and learning style. Ben studied Music theory, and Sound Production at Box Hill Institute. His teaching approach is easy-going, supportive, and highly effective, with a strong focus on making lessons fun, engaging, and productive. Ben teaches Guitar and Bass at AKM on Thursdays. 

Josh is our Bass teacher. He has been playing bass for 7 years and has played professionally for 3. He has performed in many of Melbourne's top music venues including Stay Gold, and The Curtin. Through the years he has gained vast experience in writing music, collaboration and improvisation over many genres. He can lead his students in right direction based on their skill level. For beginners, the basics, for intermediate players, a push to take their playing to the next level. For advanced players, he can offer unique insight if they are interested in new experiences, and taking their skills to a professional level. Josh teaches at AKM on Mondays. 

Vanessa is one of our Guitar and Singing teachers. She is a contemporary folk and world music artist, songwriter, and educator with over 15 years of teaching experience across music, education, and community settings. Originally from Chile and now based in Australia, Vanessa brings a strong multicultural perspective to her work, informed by her lived experience as a migrant artist and her deep connection to storytelling through music. As a performer, Vanessa has toured nationally and internationally, presenting original music at festivals, venues, and community events. Her work has received national recognition, with finalist placements at the Victorian Music Awards and the Australian Folk Music Awards. Alongside her artistic practice, Vanessa is a dedicated and highly experienced teacher with formal teaching studies including 2 reaching Bachelors, and a strong background in education. She has worked with children, young people, and adults across a wide range of abilities.  Her teaching approach is student-centred, inclusive, and supportive, focusing on building strong technical foundations while nurturing creativity, confidence, and self-expression. Vanessa is passionate about creating safe, engaging learning environments where students can explore their musical identity, develop their skills, and grow both artistically and personally. Vanessa teaches Guitar and Singing on Wednesdays, at AKM.

Parisia one of our Singing, Songwriting and Piano teachers. She is an accomplished and versatile musician with extensive experience in the contemporary music scene. She specialises in Jazz, Rock, Blues, Pop, and Musical Theatre, bringing both technical expertise and creative insight to her work. Along with the success of 3 songs released, Parisia holds a Diploma of Music, and is currently completing her final year of a Bachelor of Music at the Australian College of Arts. Parisia offers instruction in vocal performance, songwriting across a range of genres, and lessons on piano accompaniment. Known for her energetic, warm, and empathetic approach, she is passionate about fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment. Her teaching goals focus on promoting vocal health, building stage confidence, and encouraging authentic self-expression in every student. Parisia works on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at AKM and is currently accepting new students for Singing, Songwriting and Piano lessons. 

Kathy is our Classical Piano teacher. She is a first-year Bachelor of Music student at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, studying under Russian-Australian pianist Dr Konstantin Shamray. She holds both AMusA and LMusA diplomas in piano and has won numerous awards, including 2nd Prize at the International Beecham Piano Competition (UK, 2022) and 1st Prize in the Piano Solo - Open Section at the Boroondara Eisteddfod (2023). Alongside her piano studies, Kathy has a broad musical background with experience in ensemble performance, accompaniment, and formal music theory studies (AMEB Grade 6). She has also performed in a range of high-profile settings, including Melbourne Recital Centre for VCE Top Class Music (2025), Government House, and as a soloist in St Paul’s Cathedral Lunchtime Concert Series. Kathy is passionate about helping students build strong technical foundations, musical confidence, and a genuine love of music. Her teaching approach is collaborative and student-focused, encouraging students to explore their musical interests while developing the skills and discipline needed to achieve their goals through engaging, tailored lessons. Kathy teaches Classical Piano on Tuesday and Wednesdays at AKM. 

Leion is one of our Drumming Teachers. He is studying Music at the University of Melbourne, and has years of experience performing all around Australia, including venues such as Fed Square and the Night Cat. As a performer, Leion has toured nationally and played over one hundred gigs across multiple genres including Jazz, Soul, Rock, and Punk, making him well versed across a multitude of styles. Receiving First Class Honours across multiple performance-related subjects at university, Leion is well equipped to suit every students’ needs with a relaxed approach to teaching, with a strong focus on tailoring to your individual goals and aims. Leion teaches on Mondays at AKM.
